About the Role:
The Infrastructure Support Engineer role provides operational support for IT infrastructure, ensuring systems and networks run smoothly and efficiently.
We are seeking a skilled and proactive engineer to join our dynamic Technology team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting their peers within the infrastructure team and Technology team as whole.
This role is crucial in ensuring the stability and integrity of our IT infrastructure.
The role also requires the successful candidate to assist the SQL DBA in their role as well as providing support and ongoing assistance to the patching and security team.
Responsibilities:
• Operational Support: Provide 03rd level day-to-day operational support for infrastructure solutions, including Active Directory, Azure Active Directory Connect, and security authentication and authorisation solutions.
• Patching: A good understanding of vulnerability and patch management to provide support to patching and security team, this may also include desktop patching.
• Network Management: Configure, install, and support network hardware and software infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and other network devices.
• Troubleshooting: Analyse and resolve faults ranging from major system crashes to daily monitoring.
• Preventative Measures: Undertake routine preventative measures and implement and maintain network security to ensure compliance.
• Collaboration: Work closely with technology and business units on infrastructure activities.
• Documentation: Document IT infrastructure layout and design for future reference and upgrades.
• SQL: A good working knowledge of SQL to provide backup support to SQL DBA as and when required.
Qualifications:
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as ITIL, CCNA, MCSE, or Cloud (Azure), Palo Alto and WAD-WAN are preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience within the IT support industry, particularly in roles involving system administration and network management.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of Active Directory, IT operating systems, network security best practices, and troubleshooting methodologies.
Skills:
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth understanding of IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems
• Networking: Knowledge of CISCO Switches, Routers and SD-WAN is essential, good knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls, CISCO Call calling is also required
• SQL: A working knowledge of SQL support
• Patching: Previous experience in vulnerability and security patching
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues.
• Communication: Strong communication skills to provide technical support and guidance to users and other IT staff.
• Adaptability: Ability to keep up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices.
